The Islamic faith is viewed by Christians as a false religion for many reasons. Chief among them is Islam’s denial of basic truths regarding the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Islam denies the deity of Christ, denies the substitutionary death of Christ on Calvary and denies the resurrection of Christ.
In A.D. 570, Ubu’l-Kassim was born in Mecca. He eventually became known as Muhammad. Tradition says Muhammad spent much time in prayer, meditation and contemplation. When he was 40 years old he entered a cave at the foot of Mount Hira near Mecca and stayed there for about 6 months. During that time, tradition says, he was confronted by one which identified himself as the angel Gabriel. Gabriel choked Muhammed until he surrendered to the instruction “Proclaim in the name of the Lord the Creator who created man from a clot of blood”. Muhammad returned to Hira on a number of occasions and received many revelations. These revelations are recorded in Islam’s holy book, the Quran. The Quran has 114 chapters (suras) which contain 78,000 words.
Adherents to Islam (Muslims) worship Allah. Allah is not simply another name for God. In his book Islam Unveiled (The Scholars Press, Shermans Dale, PA,1991), Dr. Robert A. Morey addresses the origin and meaning of the term Allah.
Hastings’ Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics states, “Allah” is a proper name, applicable only to their (i.e. Arab) peculiar God.
According to the Encyclopedia of Religion, “Allah” is a pre-Islamic name…corresponding to the Babylonian Bel.
According to Middle East scholar E. M. Wherry, Allah-worship, as well as Baal-worship, were both astral religions and they involved worship of the sun, the moon and the stars.
Morey himself says, …the moon god was called by various names, one of which was Allah… The name Allah was used as the personal name of the moon god…
The symbol of the worship of the moon god in Arabian culture and elsewhere throughout the Middle East was the crescent moon. Archeologists have dug up numerous statues and hieroglyphic inscriptions in which a crescent moon was seated on top of the head of the deity to symbolize the worship of the moon god.
Morey also points out that Ubu’l-Kassim (Muhammad) was born in to the Quraysh tribe which was devoted to Allah, the moon god.

Islam is well known for its 5 Pillars of the Faith. They are:
1. The Confession – There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of God.
2. Praying 5 times each day while bowing toward Mecca.
3. Fasting 28 consecutive days (daylight hours only) during the month Ramadan.
4. Giving to charity. (The common figure is about 2.5percent)
5. Making a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in one’s life.
Some definitions of Islamic terms:
Islam: Surrender. (Islam originally referred to one who was manly and brave unto death)
Muslim: One who surrenders to God.
Kabah: The square stone temple in Mecca. The holy place of worship.
Jihad: Holy War.
Shahada: The Muslim 13 word confession of faith. (The first pillar of faith)
Hajj: The pilgrimage to Mecca.
Hadith: A supplement to the Quran containing traditions about Muhammad.
Sharia: The Muslim code of ethics.
Islam’s goal is to conquer the world by jihad. Today about 1/5 of the world’s population (1½ billion) is Muslim. There are 44 Islamic states and radical Islam is continuing its conflict. In Sura 2:193 it says, Make war upon those who believe not…Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah’s religion reigns supreme.
